CPAST Final Evaluation

The University of Portland uses Candidate Preservice Assessment of Student Teaching (CPAST) to assist teachers in self-assessing their growth as educator. It gauges candidates development against InTASC Standards. This is the final evaluation that was created after consultation between my Cooperating Teacher, University Supervisor, and me.

CPAST Self-Assessment

The CPAST assessment is a working document. During the year I used it to evaluate and note evidence of my progress. I also used it identify areas where growth was possible. Poor handwriting aside, this document does give a good example of the type of self-assessment I have done this year.

Professional Growth Plan

As my student teaching year wrapped up, I was able to note much improvement, but the CPAST also permitted me to identify areas I could improve in as I begin my career as a new teacher. In this plan, I note three areas I am going to focus on: data-guided instruction, checking for understanding and djusting instruction through formative assessments, and collaboration with my colleagues and administrators.
