Professional Collaboration

In my role as a student teacher at a public elementary school, I had the opportunity to work with a variety of professional educators. I participated in weekly staff and PLC meetings. I worked with counselors and specialists to discuss students. And, of course, I worked with my Cooperating Teacher to plan instruction. Below I give examples I did with my grade-level PLC.

Meeting agenda

This agenda and work document from early in the year captures what we did in a PLC as we were figuring out how we were going to work through the curriculum using online instruction.

Reading and Writing Integration

These Jamboard pages were the deliverables from two PLC meetings where we discussed ways to integrate Reading and Writing instruction. Due to time constraints in the Covid environment, we had to find ways to get more done with less time. We then compared out ideas with other groups’ work to help plan future instruction.

Native American Heritage Month

In preparation for Native American Heritage Month, my Elementary School arranged a professional development activity to strengthen educators knowledge of Oregon’s Native America heritage. In a jigsaw activity, each grade's PLC worked together to study one aspect of this heritage, and then we got together to share our knowledge with the other grades. The entire school’s work is linked here, with my PLC working on slide 3.
